Look What My Darling Steve Bought Me!

Yes, ladies, stand back and prepare to be jealous that I have such a thoughtful husband. He ordered me my very own AARP card. I am putting this right up there with the time he bought me this for Valentines Day.

He said I have to be sure and ask for the AARP discount everywhere I go, AND, he said, "You should not show your number online, people might use your number to get the discount."

Yes, he did. No. I am not kidding.

Pink is for Girls!

Welcome to my Pink Saturday post (yes, I know I started early.) A couple of weeks ago, this empty pot on my patio sprouted something and I decided to water it. And now, look what bloomed! Pink Petunia's! I just love a volunteer in the garden! ha ha!

And our own sweet petunia came to visit Grandpa and Grandma. (We have adjusted to our new names pretty well for those of you who read this.) Anyway, our little princess came to see us and she was wearing... pink! She knows what Grandma likes! Well, she's growing so fast she's about to split right out of her onesie, so Grandma had this idea.
I went shopping! That's what Grandma's do you know! Just one of the joys of grandma-hood! And since she is about to start eating baby food, I thought she might need some pink bibs.
And this cotton play set was so soft and cuddly... and pink.
And she is going to need some warmer pj's soon! Winter is coming you know!
And I could not pass up this sweet one.
Just look at the little stocking feet on it... oh my goodness!
And our grandbaby is already thinking of ways to protect her environment. She already recycles lots of kisses.
Even though this one is a little too big still, Grandma knows when she starts eating baby food, she's going to grow like a weed. And well, besides, isn't it just about the cutest sweater you ever saw? I just love that pink embroidery down the sleeve!
Okay, sweet baby! Grandma is sending you a package of goodies.

Now if you want to see more Pink Things, and who wouldn't want more pink in their world, then stop by Beverly's at How Sweet the Sound on Saturday and you'll find many links to pink yourself out!

Addendum: Okay, since the first two visitors were surprised to see I'm a grandma, visit these links and relive the whole excitement. You know us grandma's we love to show off our grandbabies!

Please forgive me for posting my pink petunias and then leaving town! I would love to repay your visit next week when I return. Just leave me a note below and I'll be sure to do it!

Which Came First , the Chicken or the Egg?

Good Morning everyone! Happy Tablescape Thursday and are you ready for breakfast?
Everyone knows eggs are for breakfast and chicken is for supper, so hello? Which do you think comes first?
I start my day with a hard boiled egg and a piece of toast or bagel. On weekends sometimes I have bacon, Mmm! Bacon! Even my place settings look like eggs fried my favorite way, sunny side up!
Don't you think my napkin rings say egg yolks, too?
Maybe I'll use this favorite plate of mine to serve our buttered toast today?
These juice glasses are from my everyday set of glassware. Shh! Steve bought them at WalMart! Without my interference, I mean advice.
I sure get a lot of mileage out of these little straw flowers. They just sing a happy hello to me!
Now, fear not, we are not eating these ceramic goose eggs, but I fooled you at first, didn't I?
Would you care for some orange juice?
Or a tall glass of milk?
This guy thinks he is King of the Henhouse! ha ha!
Well, now, happy good morning to you! And like your mom told you, always start the day with a hearty, healthy breakfast.

This cheesy little post is one of many Tablescape Thursday posts, which is hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Be sure and go see what lovelies the other hosts/hostesses are serving up this morning!

New Mexico Trip (the unedited version)

Admittedly, my last post left a lot to the imagination. You may have noticed a few details left out. I know some of you like the play by play, so here is what you might have missed.

The road to New Mexico is long and boring, for like 8 hours, this is what we saw:
Imagine my excitement when I spotted this:
I just got so tickled at the thought of it. There is a Groom waiting for me in one mile. ha ha! I know, I know... but I had been bored for like 8 hours already!

Then I was sorely dissapointed to find this guy in Amarillo. He's supposed to be one of the most photographed sights in Texas and well, frankly he left much to be desired.
But the bull on the parking lot! Now that was exciting!
We did not try the 72 oz challenge, but I did go in and use their bathroom. It was clean.
At the rest center which served stale coffee for free, FREE!, we wondered what was so exciting that people were gliding past this red ant colony in order to take a picture.
And then it became clear to us so we followed like lemmings.
For some reason, we really liked the dogs in Taos.
Just couldn't get enough of them.
We had coffee, here, just in case you wondered.
We had a nice view out our window. As you can see, this is "through" our window.
We kind of liked this house and thought maybe we could afford to live in Taos like this. Dare to Dream!
Uhm, more dogs. Not sure why the dogs seemed so endearing to us.
We took pictures of each other.
And we ate a lot.
And I went without makeup quite a bit!
And that's it! Our New Mexico trip in it's entirety!

I knew you would want to see ALL the pictures! I bet you can't wait till I get back from Colorado now! ha ha!

A New Mexico Retrospect

Steve and I are planning a little vacation in a week or two and it occurred to me, I never posted our pics from New Mexico last year! Oh I think I posted about the springs at Ojo Caliente, but I never really gave you the full slide show of the trip. So, fasten your seat belts, we're going to the Land Of Enchantment (virtually anyway if not literally)! Don't worry, it'll be a fast trip! You'll be home in time for dinner!

First stop is Taos Wool Festival.
I really wanted to bring one of the little alpaca's home with me!

There were lots of beautiful all natural woolen items for sale. (I bought a pair of gloves from this vendor!)
and we learned how to sheer sheep. Well, we watched anyway. This guy is supposedly a world champion sheerer (the one in the boots, not the one with his feet in the air!)

We saw some ancient churches and pueblo villages.

And a lot of handwoven things. (I could not talk Steve into letting us part with 10g or so for a rug, but I did try!)
We saw a lot of this pretty blue color everywhere.

And some aspens, just a few, ha ha! that's a joke in case you weren't sure.
We learned about the mystery of "Our Lady of Guadalupe", or I should say the miracle. Here's some info if you want to read more about it.

And we drove up into the Sangre de Christo Mountains (more than once). And saw... more aspens! Aren't they gorgeous? And they chatter in the wind. So amazing!
And we stopped at the Rio Grande Gorge, and acted like real tourists there!
And we stopped along the highway and took pictures of the scenery which is so different than our own here in Oklahoma!
Oh, and at the Rio Grande Gorge, we were reminded to stay away from the edge.
And we saw some really crazy houses out in the middle of the dessert. Maybe aliens landed here and decided to stay? I don't know.
And then our wonderful stay at Ojo Caliente. Read more about it here.

We were like zen'd out when we left there, but it was really nice.
And we were amazed at the ruggedness of all that we saw.
And Steve got his dream come true, a trip to Los Alamos to the Bradbury Science Museum. (I actually enjoyed it too!)
And then we went to Santa Fe for a day or two. And visited museums and galleries and acted like we were rich art buyers so they would give us free bottles of water.
And we strolled the Palace of the Governors and tried to find something amazing for me to bring home. I couldn't find anything more amazing than Steve so we didn't buy anything.
And on the last day, we took another trip up to the mountains, just for old times sake before we left to come home.

Okay, that was our 2008 vacation. Now I can officially look forward to the 2009 trip! This year we are headed to the northern side of the same mountain range, in Colorado, and will head a little further north up to the Rockies, too! I think some of those wool scarves I've been weaving and my wool gloves from last year might come in handy!
